What can I say. These double brooches with chains are fabulous. Sometimes called chatelaines, collar brooches or double brooches.
Pop them on a coat across, diagonally or just on a shoulder.
From my research I believe they are from the 1950s although they could be earlier. I have seen them worn on vintage fashion images. As Pray Tell, a character in the TV drama Pose, Billy Porter wears a set of these brooches.
There are modern versions but they do not have the quality, weight or style of these.
The blue cabochons are almost lightbulb shaped and wonderfully glazed.
Each cabochon is centred within in a rope style setting. There is a large one and a small one for each pair. They are probably glued at the base and then two rope circles support them within the setting.
The chains are very good quality. Not gold, possibly plate but probably a very good amalgam. They have been in storage since the 1980s.
These brooches are in mint condition. Never been worn. Signed "14" using European number styles.
I am still researching the designer/maker/manufacturer.
Blue - Cabochons are 2 x 3 cm and 3 x 4 cm The chain is 58 cm stretched out. The chains are crossed in the middle.
