A very popular and very rare signed Mitchel Maer raised floral leaf brooch for Christian Dior. An American based in England he designed and made jewellery for Dior during a brief period of collaboration between 1952 to 1956.
This beauty was originally part of a set including a necklace and clip on earrings. I have also seen a bracelet.
Prong set sapphire blue and light aqua/mint rhinestones in a silver toned rhodium plating. The condition of the piece is excellent especially the rhodium plating which can suffer when subjected to perfume and other elements over time. Remarkable for an item that is over seventy years old.
