Do you want to wear a piece of history?
Authenticated Jakob Bengel pieces from the 1930s, these pins were purchased direct from the German factory in the 1980s and then left in storage until recently.
A textured, almost burnished machine made pin of a silver metal amalgam this piece demonstrates the start of jewellery making in the modern age. Simple, yet striking in its gorgeous leaf shape, this brooch represents one of the most exciting periods of design.
It is a wonderful example of jewellery manufactured in the 1930s that was designed to be fun and affordable. Jewellery meant for everyone.
The crimped shape is simple yet compliments the wonderful material. It reflects the Bengel interest in experimental Bauhaus and Art Deco styles. It is a wonderful reflection of the transition from old to new as well as a great understanding of what his contemporary customers wanted. Clean, fresh design.
This pin will take the weather brilliantly and it will sit securely on a coat or jacket. Light enough for a shirt or blouse, a supportive brooch sponge can be used for extra security. The chrome is tarnish proof.
I have hand polished each brooch, however, if you prefer one that retains the patina of ninety years of storage, please email me email@example.com before you purchase.
There can be some slight discolourations within the metal but they are original to the piece.
