Check out the the swirls, flourishes and cameo of this fabulously designed brooch that is over 100 years old.
The star's centre is set with a crystal rhinestone. It is most probably brass or what we call Pinchbeck. Pinchbeck is a form of brass, an alloy of copper and zinc, mixed in proportions so that it closely resembles gold in appearance. It was invented in the early 18th Century.
Well made but the stone is a bit chipped and the back has scratches from previous owners testing it for gold. That's how real it looks.
So pretty. So romantic. A classic.
Good antique condition.
Some wear, scratching and chipped rhinestone visible with a magnifier. Price is reflective.
