In the late Victorian times, the low price of silver and development of mass production manufacturing techniques allowed even the humblest of folk to buy and wear a brooch.
Many of these brooches and pins were obviously well loved and repaired multiple times in order to become cherished family heirlooms.
Some may have scratches, dents with repaired or replaced pins but they are wonderful artefacts and hum with history.
I have cleaned and polished each brooch and the pins are secure.
These pins were designed to be worn on thick woollen garments and still make fabulous coat brooches. I recommend using a brooch sponge (included free of charge) to fasten them to thinner fabrics.
